Tyler Thompson
Guide
Coming to AMS in 2022 from a career guiding in the Tetons and Rocky Mountain West, Tyler brings an extensive resume of technical climbing and backpacking instruction to the school. In the winter, Tyler’s focus shifts to splitboard mountaineering. While pursuing this passion, he has completed many technical splitboard descents, including Mt. Rainer’s Fuhrer Finger and Grand Teton’s Ford-Stettner. Coming to the state for high-elevation guiding experience, Tyler fell in love with Alaska’s pristine outdoors. He leverages this love for Alaska’s big mountains and expertise instructing to guide Denali expeditions for AMS. When not guiding, he can often be found on his dirtbike riding the next best trail he can find.
