Katie McCaffrey

Katie joined AMS in 2019 after completing a degree and the Outdoor Studies program at the University of Alaska, Southeast (UAS) in Juneau. A born-and-raised Alaskan from Nome and Fairbanks, Katie brings a wealth of knowledge of Alaska’s outdoors to the school. Her impressive resume includes winning the American Alpine Club’s Live Your Dream grant in 2018, the American Alpine Club’s Mountaineering Fellowship grant in 2019, and a first ascent of an unnamed 9,500-ft peak in the Wrangell St. Elias Mountains. She is also a founding member of Alaska Mountain Women, a female community dedicated to Alaska mountaineering. When not working at AMS, she can be found exploring Juneau and teaching Outdoor Studies at UAS.
