Chad Ray

A lifelong mountaineer, Chad’s father was a guide and encouraged him to take up climbing. After decades of mountaineering and ski patrolling, Chad joined AMS in 2022. Here at the school he guides Denali expeditions and instructs mountaineering courses. When not in Alaska, Chad is an Avalanche Technician for Big Sky Ski Patrol, where he works in avalanche forecasting and mitigation. He also works as a custom carpenter in the Bozeman area. Chad is passionate about ski mountaineering and is an expert on climbing volcanoes in the Cascades. He can often be found scoping out the next best ski descent on a new peak.
